Food and Emotional Voids

Do you ever stress eat? Or eat when you’re bored? or sad? or lonely? or angry?

Unfortunately, food isn’t going to solve your problem. It might provide temporary comfort or satisfaction, but it doesn’t magically *poof* your problems away or change the way you really feel about a situation.

And you might even feel worse after you indulge…

However, emotional eating can be an indicator. An alarm. A teacher. A lesson. A voice that’s trying to tell you something is really, really wrong. Or that something’s missing. Or that you’re feeling overly attached to a person, event, feeling, object – something besides the food.

Disclaimer: Eating disorders are very different than occasional acts of indulgence or abstinence. If you suspect that you or someone you know may have an eating disorder, please consider contacting an organization like the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) to help you get on the life path you know you want to live.
