"Destroy the idea that you have to be constantly working or grinding in order to be successful. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery, and reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a successful and happy life." - Zach Galifianakis

Resting Versus Idling

There’s a difference between resting and doing nothing. Rest is rejuvenating. It’s intentional downtime when your body and mind can do their housekeeping and regenerate.

Idling is different. It’s waiting, maybe restlessly. It’s passing time, maybe while filling the mind with distractions.

Not every single second of our lives needs to be super-duper intentional. But when we fill our days with more idle time than rest, we don’t really don’t get the rest we need.

Let’s make a point to turn off the screens, silence the notifications, and put the books down and chores aside so that we give our minds and bodies a break.
